Driving Miss Violet to Jonesborough, Tennessee

I was so happy to discover Jonesborough, the oldest city in Tennessee. It is only 58 miles from Asheville so I can see many day trips in the future with my d.h. (dear husband).  The city is known for it’s Storytelling Festival. ( http://www.storytellingcenter.net).

Miss Violet loves antiques as I do. This quaint little town provides several really good ones. Good to me means cheap. The antique shops here are so much cheaper than Hendersonville that they look like bargains.

On Main street we found the cutest organic chocolate shop. Their chocolate is so unusual because the way they temper the chocolate makes the chocolate pieces look like glass with swirls of colorful veins running through it. I have never seen anything like it.

Our lunch was delicious at The Main Street Café. I had the best chocolate cream pie ever. My Grandma Fannie’s was delicious and this is the only one I have tasted that rivals hers. The café is in the old post office building that was built in the 1800’s. It was very impressive.

Miss Violet and I stayed at the AmericInn. It is a hotel chain that is similar to a Hampton or a Ramada Inn. I recommend it highly because of the cleanliness and location. There is a trail that you can walk to downtown directly behind the hotel.
